a DIYer with basic automotive skills to perform a professional
fuel system cleaning at home. The kit cleans fuel injectors,
intake manifold, intake valves, combustion chambers and throttle

easy,
takes less than 45 minutes and requires only basic
hand tools.
The simple steps include:
1. With the engine OFF: Access your engine's throttle
plate inside the throttle body. Secure the end of the 3M Do-it-Yourself
Intake System Cleaner hose directly in front of the throttle
plate. Set the Intake System Cleaner can in an upright position
in a safe location away from electronic components and hot
or moving parts.
Turn engine ON: Increase RPMs 500 to 1,000 above base
idle speed. Press firmly on the actuator to lock it on. The
cleaner flows through the long delivery hose at a controlled
rate and will take about 15 minutes to empty. Once empty,
decrease the engine speed to idle and turn the engine OFF.
Remove hose and empty can.
2. Engine OFF: Use 3M Throttle Plate and Carb Cleaner
to spray clean any remaining deposits from the throttle plate
and surrounding throttle body area. It also will provide lubrication.
Reassemble all under-hood parts.
3. Pour the 3M Complete Fuel System Cleaner into your
gas tank at the recommended dosage to clean all of the critical
engine areas including the fuel injectors. Drive the vehicle
for 10 to 15 minutes immediately after using the kit.
