History
of SEMA....SEMA is an acronym for (Specialty Equipment Market
Association) that oversees the automobile aftermarket industry. It was originally
founded in 1963 by Vic Edelbrock, Jr., Ed Iskenderian, Al Segal, Roy Richter,
Willie Garner, John Bartlett, Bob Hedman, Dean Moon, and Phil Weiand, Jr. These
gentlemen have create a sizable niche in the global economy for the millions of
gearheads that have fun with sport compact cars, muscle cars, classic cars, street
cars, hot rods, motorcycles, trucks, and recreational vehicles. SEMA actually
stood for Speed Equipment Manufacturing Association until 1968 when the government
stepped in and requested that the name be changed to Specialty Equipment Market
Association, so that the overall image of the association would be viewed in a
positive way. .....The total number of members registered with the SEMA organization
is approximately 6,817 companies worldwide, and which just over one-third (2000+)
will attend the SEMA show for 2007. The various companies range from OEM manufacturers,
aftermarket manufactures, interior and exterior performance upgrades, vehicle
components, high performance engine applications,and many other businesses that
make up the automotive enthusiast $36 billion-dollar-a-year industry, WOW. Every
year the SEMA show is held at the Las Vegas Convention Center usually during late
October, and the first week of November. The SEMA show represents the largest
trade show gathering event in fabulous LAS VEGAS, NV. More than 100,000 industry
